Sunday School > What Do We Do At Sunday School?

We provide four teaching classes for children of different age groups: Bubbles (3-5 years), Splash (5-7 years), X Stream (8-11 years, school years 3, 4 and 5), The Grid or Breakfast Club (10 + years, school years 6 and above), a creche, and other activities.

At St Alfege Church we follow a scheme of teaching appropriate to our age group devised by the Scripture Union. We involve the children in a whole range of activities such as games, role play, cooking, drawing, writing, talking about the bible to help them understand the message that week and how Jesus' love is relevant and what it means to us today. We always ensure it is interesting and fun. No one has to come to Sunday School but most of our children like coming as often as possible because we have fun and make friends. All adults and young people who are involved with the Sunday School have passed a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

During the teaching hour all the children come together for a time of worship with songs and actions led by members of the Church choir. The children love singing together and have a number of favourites that are requested every week.

Each child is given a sheet relating to the subject that day with games and puzzles to complete at home, helping them reflect on what has been talked about that day.
