The Hawksmoor church of St Alfege, Greenwich, is a Grade I Listed building nearly 300 years old. In the UK, unlike in some other countries (such as France), the State does not help to maintain churches: the churches have to meet their own costs, somehow. It costs more than £1,000 a week to keep this church open for worship and pilgrimage.
Please consider making a donation to the work and upkeep of St Alfege, perhaps in the name of a loved one or to mark a happy anniversary. We count on your donations to help keep St Alfege Church open for others.
You can make a donation by either following the link to our e-fundraising account at the Charities Aid Foundation on-line (see also at the top right of this page);
The St Alfege Parochial Church Council is a charity; its Treasurer is elected at the Annual General Meeting of parishioners, and the St Alfege accounts are published and independently examined.
